Weeks after the tragic shooting at a Washington Navy Yard, a Senate Committee is now taking in testimony on the federal background check process.
The hearing is to held before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, which is scheduled for Thursday morning. Expected to be present is acting director of the Office of Personnel Management.
What is under scrutiny now is the process of security clearances and background checking following the shooting incident which happened September 16, last month this year. The shooting involved a former Navy reservist Aaron Alexis, who shot and killed twelve people before he was killed by authorities.
The shooter had a security clearance, despite having a past criminal history and mental issues, this is now in question as to how he was able to obtain these despite the criminal past.
